A Christmas card with your actual pet on it beats a stock card every single time — and with AI you can shoot it tonight from photos you already have. Below are 25 ideas, grouped by mood, that you can make free with PetsDaily's holiday templates. One clear photo of your pet's face is all each one needs.
Classic & cozy
- The fireplace portrait — your pet by a glowing fire with stockings hung behind. The all-time bestseller. Start from the Christmas template.
- Santa's little helper — a Santa hat, a calm expression, snowy bokeh.
- Holiday sweater session — an ugly-but-loved knit sweater, warm indoor light.
- Cocoa by the window — snow falling outside, paws on the windowsill.
- The family photo stand-in — your pet posed like the official family portrait, everyone else cropped out.
Elegant & artsy
- Renaissance royalty in a wreath — oil-painting style with a holly crown. Combines two crowd favorites: royal portrait + Christmas.
- The winter noble — velvet cloak, dark forest backdrop, painterly light.
- Golden hour snow portrait — backlight, drifting snowflakes, cinematic mood.
- Vintage postcard — your pet on a 1900s-style Christmas postcard, faded edges.
- Stained glass window — your pet rendered as a cathedral window panel.
Funny & meme-worthy
- Santa hat, zero enthusiasm — the hat is on; the soul has left. Works for every cat.
- Caught eating the Christmas dinner — guilty eyes, empty plate.
- Gift-wrapped disaster — your pet tangled in tinsel and string lights (drawn safely, of course).
- The elf who quit — tiny elf costume, thousand-yard stare.
- Sleigh security officer — sunglasses, clipboard, guarding the presents.
- Reindeer interview — your pet as the reindeer who didn't make the team.
Cards built for printing
- The front-page news — a vintage newspaper: "LOCAL HERO SAVES CHRISTMAS".
- Stamp collection — your pet as a series of holiday postage stamps.
- Storybook illustration — a children's-book page: "Twas the night before Christmas…"
- The advent calendar reveal — 24 tiny doors, your pet behind door 25.
- Concert poster — "WOOFSTOCK — Live on Christmas Eve", your pet as the headliner.
For the whole family
- Stocking guardians — one portrait per pet, each above their own stocking.
- First Christmas together — a soft, painterly portrait to mark a rescue's first holiday.
- Far-away gift card — for relatives overseas: your pet "signing" the card with a paw print.
- The gotcha-day anniversary card — Christmas adoption anniversaries deserve their own card.
How to make one in about a minute
- Pick one clear, well-lit photo of your pet's face — phone photos are fine.
- Open the generator, choose a template like Xmas, and attach the photo.
- Add one twist if you like ("with a tiny scarf"), generate, and download. The AI pet portrait guide explains the whole process if it's your first time.
Print the result at your local photo shop as a 5×7 card, or post it straight to the family group chat — either way, it's the only card this year with your actual animal on it.
A few printing tips from our studio: export at the highest quality your tool offers, ask the shop for matte paper (glossy kills the oil-painting styles), and order two extra copies — the portrait always outlives the season. Every example image in this post was generated in our own studio with the templates linked above, so what you see is what the templates actually produce.
