How to Make a Pet Meme — Full Guide

Step-by-step guide to the free meme maker, add classic top-and-bottom captions and stickers to any pet photo in your browser. Includes caption tips and fixes.

The meme maker turns any pet photo into a finished, share-ready meme in under a minute — and the whole thing runs inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, no account is needed, and there is no daily limit. This guide walks through every control, plus the caption tricks that separate a funny meme from a forgotten one.

What you need

  • One photo of your pet: JPG, PNG or WebP. Any size works; the meme exports at 1080×1080 square.
  • A browser. Desktop and mobile both work — on phones the download lands in your Downloads folder like any file.
  • That's it. No sign-up, no email, no watermark removal to worry about for the joke format (a small petsdaily.live mark stays in the corner, which is how friends find the tool).

Making the meme, step by step

  1. Open the meme maker and tap Choose a photo in the middle of the canvas.
  2. Pick your photo. The image is cropped to a square with the classic meme look — the middle of the photo stays in frame, so choose a shot where the face sits near the center.
  3. Type your top text in the first field. It renders in the classic bold white-with-outline style, uppercased automatically, wrapping onto multiple lines when needed.
  4. Type your bottom text. The strongest memes follow the setup-punchline shape: observation on top, reaction on the bottom.
  5. Add stickers if you want them. Tap an emoji to drop it on the canvas, then drag it anywhere with your finger or mouse. Keep it to one or two — more reads as clutter.
  6. Press Download meme. You get a 1080×1080 JPG, sized for Instagram, X, WhatsApp and every feed.
  7. On mobile you can also press Share to hand the finished image straight to Instagram, Messages or WhatsApp via your phone's share sheet.

Caption tips that actually work

  • Shorter is funnier. Three to six words per line beats a paragraph. The caption is the timing, and timing is brevity.
  • Write the punchline first. Find the funniest phrase, then build the top line as its setup.
  • Let the photo do half the work. The famous unimpressed look already carries the joke — pair it with a flat statement like "I do what I want" (see our side-eye template for that expression in portrait form).
  • Steal smart. Our 101 dog meme captions list is right there below the editor — tap any idea to drop it into a field.

Troubleshooting

My photo won't load. The tool accepts JPG, PNG and WebP. If your file is HEIC (common on iPhones), convert it first — share the photo to yourself via email as a JPG, or take a screenshot, and the screenshot will load fine.

The text is cut off or wraps oddly. Fields hold up to 80 characters, and long lines wrap automatically. If a line breaks at an ugly word, shorten it or add a manual break by splitting it across top and bottom text.

The sticker landed in the wrong place. Just drag it. Stickers reposition freely; there is no way to lose one behind the photo.

Download didn't start. Check that your browser allows downloads from the current tab (some private modes block them). The file is named pet-meme.jpg.

I want a version without the corner mark. The meme maker is free forever and always carries the small mark — but AI portraits downloaded with Pro have no watermark. See pricing if that's what you're after.

Privacy: where does my photo go?

Nowhere. The meme is rendered on your device with the browser's canvas — there is no upload step in this tool at all. Close the tab and every trace is gone. That's also why it works offline once the page has loaded.

Want the "painting" version instead of the joke version? The same photo can become a full AI portrait in about thirty seconds — three free pictures a day.
